Girl Scout Council Programs

Happy December Girl Scouts!

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with friends and family. 
We are incredibly grateful for you and everything you do to make Girl Scouting amazing for the girls in your life!

Here are some great opportunities coming up for December, there are also training and learning opportunities for volunteers below.

DECEMBER PROGRAMS
Girls can attend these programs with their troop, on their own, and/or with an adult.  Each program outlines what the requirements are.  If you have any questions about programming, please do not hesitate to contact us.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHT. . Last Chance!
2:00 PM-4:00 PM
Bring your family or your troop and join us for this enduring holiday tradition – The Nutcracker Ballet performed by Ballet West at the Capitol Theatre. All girls/minors must attend with an adult, please.
Our Seats are in Orchestra 4

10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Try out the different hands-on STEM programs that Zaniac offers and ignite your imagination! At the STEM Exploration Activity Day, girls will rotate through different stations, each exploring an exciting STEM program at Zaniac. Stations include: Minecraft Demonstration, Math Jeopardy, a Lego Robotics challenge, a Computer Programming activity, and Chess mini-games. Girls will earn a Zaniac STEM Exploration patch for participation.

1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Pyrex or petri dish? Scientist or chef? Here, you won’t have to decide! Dabble in Chemistry with your own tasty potions and colorful candy concoctions, then test the limits of culinary design by creating your very own lab coat-worthy delights!

5:30 PM-7:00 PM
Get input on your Gold Award Project plan and ideas and ask questions about your Project Proposal! Discuss your ideas with members of the Gold Award Committee, Higher Award Representatives, and previous Gold Award Recipients prior to submitting your proposal and participating in an interview. This is a great way for you to organize your thoughts and ensure that your idea addresses the root cause and aspect of sustainability that is necessary for a Gold Award Project. All girls working towards their Gold are highly encouraged to attend one of these meetings. Adults are welcome to attend as support for the girls in their process of earning their Gold Award.

4:00 PM-6:00 PM
Learn what it takes to unleash your creativity through the stroke of a brush. Spend an afternoon at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum learning the different techniques and styles of painting. Enhance your artistic skills and study significant periods of art history. Discovery Gateway will provide the supplies and inspiration to paint a landscape or portrait of your own. You will complete the requirements for the Painting Badge. Fee includes art supplies, admission into the museum, and Painting Badge.

5:30 PM-7:00 PM

The Natural History Museum of Utah is where science meets fun! At this workshop, you'll make scientific observations and try your hand at experimenting as you create chemical reactions, investigate solids and gasses, test bubbles, and explore static electricity. Plus, receive a participation patch from NHMU!

There's an amazing ecosystem in your backyard! Get to know some of the many plants, insects, and animals that make their homes in Utah as you earn your Animal Habitats Badge at the Natural History Museum of Utah. You'll investigate predator and prey relationships, life cycles, behaviors, and habitats through activities, crafts and outdoor exploration.

Calling all Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors! Join us as we dig into the Cookie Program and start building plans to reach your goals! Do you love camp, programs, or travelling? Do you have your eye on something special from Girl Scouts? With so many amazing things to choose from in Girl Scouts, how do you know what to reach for? Come and join us as we will go through the Cookie Program goals and help YOU to reach for the stars! We will be going through Cookie Badge requirements for all ages!

December 30, 2014 5:30 PM-January 01, 2015 11:00 AM
10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-Happy New Year! Bring in 2015 at camp, rocking-out with your friends! From campfires, glow-stick tag, snowshoeing, songs, and art projects – there is something for everyone! Girls in grades K-5 will have different programming and sleeping areas from girls in grades 6-12.
